PLOT
On an inauspicious day in Dhaka, we hard open on a battered, but fearless Rake as he fights his way across a bridge scattered with shot up and bombed out cars and buses. Decked out in the tattered ruins of his mercenary gear and armed only with a rifle, Rake seamlessly shoots down every soldier who steps in his way. Against all odds, Rake battles through this smoldering hellscape, one determined man against a violent army. That is until he gets shot in the neck. He immediately drops to the ground, blood gushing from his wound. But it’s not over for Rake as he finds cover behind a vehicle and reloads his rifle. Blood now pours from Rake’s mouth, and from this tenuous moment where Rake is on the brink of death, he flashes back to a gossamer memory of someone on a sunny beach…
Act 1: The Setup and Abduction
The story opens with Ovi Mahajan, the teenage son of an Indian drug lord, enjoying a carefree life with friends at the Hargrave International School in Mumbai. Despite the façade of normalcy, Ovi is suffocated by the control of his father's right-hand man, Saju, who scolds him for straying from his direct route home. Seeking an escape, Ovi sneaks out to a nightclub with friends, but the night takes a dark turn when police officers—revealed to be corrupt—kidnap Ovi. Meanwhile, Saju is forced by Ovi’s father to retrieve his son from rival Bangladeshi gangster Amir Asif, who orchestrated the kidnapping. Saju is threatened with the lives of his own family if he fails.
Act 2: Rake's Mission and Internal Struggles
The narrative shifts to Tyler Rake, a broken man living off the grid in Australia. Rake is approached by Nik, who offers him a dangerous extraction job: retrieve Ovi from Dhaka, Bangladesh. Rake, haunted by his past and desperate for money, agrees to the mission. He infiltrates Dhaka and quickly locates Ovi, freeing him from his captors. However, the city is on lockdown, and Amir's forces hunt them down relentlessly. As Rake fights his way through Dhaka, Ovi and Rake begin to bond, with Ovi sensing Rake's deep internal pain. Meanwhile, Saju, operating separately, also attempts to retrieve Ovi for his own reasons. Tensions escalate as Saju and Rake clash, both wanting to secure Ovi’s safety but on opposing sides.
Act 3: The Bridge Battle and Sacrifice
The action culminates on the Sultana Kamal Bridge, where Rake, Saju, and Ovi are cornered by Amir’s men. Saju fights valiantly but is killed by a sniper, leaving Rake to continue the mission alone. Severely wounded, Rake engages in a final battle, ensuring Ovi's escape by sacrificing himself. After a brutal fight, Rake is shot in the neck and falls into the river below, disappearing into the water. Ovi is rescued by Nik and taken to safety. The story ends eight months later with Ovi attempting to return to normal life, while Nik takes her revenge on Amir, assassinating him in cold blood.
