While we don’t know much about Zurab and Davit’s father, it’s clear that he had an outsized influence over his sons.
He was violent, abusive, and draconian. After a group of Armenian teenagers beat up Davit, Zurab’s father blames Zurab for not protecting his younger brother. As he wails on Zurab’s head, the event that led to his damaged hearing, their father declares that Zurab must fight for his brother till his last drop of blood. The phrase resonates with Zurab throughout his life, especially following Davit’s murder at the hands of Tyler.
